Asian Pacific Probation Association (APPA) was founded in 1992, the organization’s focus is to provide Asian American Probation Employees (sworn and civilian personnel) a vehicle for the unified expression of opinion and positions on matters of concern within the Department and Asian American Communities. For over 24 years, APPA has worked tirelessly to chip away the barriers and misunderstandings that have labeled and surrounded the Asian American workforce in the Los Angeles County Probation Department; we have made great strides in gaining access on equal playing field standing along sides with other Professional Minorities Groups that had similar challenges on their journey. Although APPA members had made significant contribution to the field of corrections, there is still room to improve and we have to continue our effort to improve the existing workforce and prepare the next generation of Asian American Officers including those who believe the core values of civil service to gain access and improve quality of service to this noble profession. In addition, we must extend our resource to other Asian American Officers from smaller counties to exchange ideas and knowledge.

In order for us to achieve this vision, funding is essential to reach our goals:

  • Publish APPA resource Books and purchase APPA related souvenir and apparel for the purpose of outreach & recruitment.
  • Provide various training that targets Asian American Community Issues, Officer Safety Training, Adult & Juvenile Judicial and Correctional Process, County Governmental Process and Functions, what to expect in Deputy Probation Officer, Supervising Deputy Probation Officer, and Management Core Training, how to conduct Professional Presentation and get over the fear of public speaking.
  • Be able to have the capacity to share job opportunities, information at a one stop site.
